Front end processor
A front end processor is a computer that handles communications processing for a mainframe. It
connects to the communications lines on one end and the mainframe on the other.
It transmits and receives messages, assembles and disassembles packets and
detects and corrects errors. It is sometimes synonymous with a communications
controller, although the latter is usually not as flexible.
IIS - Microsoft Internet Information Server
IIS is web server software from Microsoft that runs under Windows NT. It supports Netscape's SSL security protocol and turns an NT-based PC into a Web site. Microsoft's Web browser, Internet Explorer, is also included.
Remote Access Service is a Windows NT Server feature that allows remote users access to the network from their Windows laptops or desktops via modem.
RFP
Request For Proposal- A document that invites a vendor

or very detailed specification of the system to be quoted on.

SID
Security ID In Windows NT and 2000, a unique name assigned to each user and to each workgroup.
SAM
Security Accounts Manager is the part of Windows NT that manages the database of usernames, passwords and permissions. A SAM resides in each server as well as in each domain controller.
Volume
(1) A physical storage unit, such as a hard disk, floppy disk, disk
cartridge, CD-ROM disc or reel of tape.
(2) A logical storage unit, which is a part of one physical drive or one that
spans several physical drives.
